How giftbox works, why it's safe, and where it's going.

How it works

  1. Create — pick any token (memecoin, tokenized stock, SOL — anything on Solana), choose an amount, add a message. Your SOL is swapped into the token and placed in the gift.
  2. Share — you get a link. Drop it in iMessage, WhatsApp, a DM, anywhere.
  3. Claim — they tap the link and claim to their own wallet, or follow a 3-step guide to create their first one. The gift includes starter SOL so claiming costs them nothing.

The security model

There is no company wallet, no escrow contract, and no database of funds. Each gift is its own Solana account, generated in the sender's browser. The link contains that account's key in the URL fragment (#) — the part of a URL that is never sent to any server.

Whoever has the link controls the gift. giftbox couldn't touch the money if it wanted to — non-custodial by architecture, not by promise. All transactions are native Solana transfers; there is no custom smart contract to exploit.

FAQ

Is giftbox custodial? Do you hold my money?

No. Funds live on-chain in the gift account, controlled only by the link. We never see the key.

What happens if the link is lost?

The link is the only key — treat it like cash. If it's lost, the gift can't be claimed. If the sender kept a copy, they can reclaim the funds through the same link.

Can a sender get an unclaimed gift back?

Yes — the sender's copy of the link opens the same gift account, so they can sweep the funds back anytime before it's claimed.

Is there a limit on gift size?

During early launch, gifts are capped at $100 per gift. The cap lifts as the system proves itself in the wild.

What does claiming cost the recipient?

Nothing. Every gift includes a small SOL top-up that pays the claim's network fees and token-account rent — and whatever is left over becomes part of the gift, so a brand-new wallet works immediately.

Which chain and tokens?

Solana. Any token in the Jupiter verified list, legacy SPL and Token-2022 — memecoins, tokenized stocks, SOL, USDC, anything.

LITEPAPER v0.1

giftbox — gift crypto to anyone. No wallet needed.

1. The Problem

Crypto has an onboarding problem disguised as a UX problem. Getting a friend their first tokens today means: download an exchange app, KYC, wait days, buy, figure out what a wallet is, copy an address, pray. Nobody does this for $5 of a memecoin.

Meanwhile, the most natural onboarding vector in the world — giving someone a gift — barely exists in crypto. Cash App and Venmo proved people send money to people. Crypto now has its version: giftbox.

2. The Product

giftbox turns any token into a link. Create → share → claim. The best onboarding is a gift.

Under the hood, every gift is its own little Solana wallet — a gift box with a combination lock. When someone creates a gift, their browser generates a brand-new account on Solana and funds it: either with SOL directly, or by swapping SOL into any token (a memecoin, a tokenized stock, anything) and delivering it into the box. The link is the combination— the account's key travels inside the link itself, so whoever holds the link can open the box.

Claiming is the recipient opening the box: their browser reads the combination from the link and signs a transaction that moves everything into their own wallet — tokens plus the starter SOL the sender included, so even a brand-new wallet can transact immediately. No app download, no fees for the recipient, no signup.

Because the key lives in the link, the sender keeps a copy too — which means unclaimed gifts are refundable: the sender can reopen the box and take the funds back anytime before it's claimed. No support tickets, no code.

3. The Token — $GIFT

$GIFT is the memecoin of crypto gifting culture — and the natural token to put inside a giftbox. Every gift sent is a live demo; every claim is a new wallet touched by the ecosystem.

4. Business Model (Roadmap)

The product is free at launch — distribution first. Revenue switches on later, from lines that don't hurt the gifting experience: featured token placements, a small flat gifting fee on premium features, white-label gifting for token projects, and enterprise onboarding.

5. Roadmap

  • Phase 0 — Done ✅ Working MVP on mainnet: create/claim any token via link, guided normie flow, non-custodial architecture, production deployment.
  • Phase 1 — Launch Public launch + $GIFT fair launch. General availability and systems put to the test.
  • Phase 2 — Friction zero One-tap embedded wallets (email/passkey claim), gift receipts, OG cards for gift links, seasonal themes.
  • Phase 3 — Scale Multi-chain, mobile app, white-label gifting.
  • Phase 4 — Continue growth — expand to new use cases and increase market share.

6. Disclaimers

  • $GIFT is a memecoin. It is not an investment contract, share, or promise of returns. The product is the point.
  • giftbox never takes custody of user funds. Gift links are bearer instruments — treat them like cash. Things can break; be careful and do not send anything you cannot afford to lose.
  • This litepaper is a living roadmap and can change with the progress of the project. Nothing here is financial advice.
